Lucia Santos born in Aljustrel.

June 11
Francisco Marto born in Aljustrel.

1910

March 11
Jacinta Marto born in Aljustrel.

1916

The first revelation of the angel at Cabeco Loca: Angel of Peace teaches children to pray for all.

The second revelation of the angel at the well: The angel urges children to sacrifice daily for sinners.

Third apparition of the Angel in the Cabeco Loca: the Angel teaches the young visionaries worship of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and gives them Holy Communion.

1917

May 13
The first apparition of Our Lady to ten-year-old Lucia and her cousins: Francis who is nine and his sister, Jacinta, seven years old. Mary assures them that she comes from heaven and asks the children to pray the Rosary, asking for peace in the world.

June 13
The second apparition of Our Lady. She repeats the need to say the Rosary, and requires the children to learn to read. Mary wants to be spread devotion to her Immaculate Heart through these children.

July 13
The third revelation of Our Lady is combined with a vision of hell and the manifestation of the role of devotion to the Immaculate Heart. The children suffer a mysterious vision of the third part of the secret of Fatima, the essence of which remains hidden until 2000. Mary concludes: In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.

August 13
The children are arrested by the Masonic Mayor of the area. Mary makes the assembled pilgrims aware of her presence, even though the children could not attend.

August 19
The fourth apparition to the children is in Valinhos, where Our Lady asks for prayer, the rosary and sacrifice for sinners. She promises to do a great miracle.

September 13
The fifth revelation. Mary ensures that God is pleased with the prayers and sacrifices made by children.

October 13
The sixth revelation. The Blessed Mother presents herself as Our Lady of the Rosary. She urges people not to insult God, and the veracity of her revelations is marked by the Miracle of the Sun, witnessed by nearly a hundred thousand people.

1919

April 4
Francisco Marto died in Aljustrel.

April 28
Commencement of the construction of the Chapel at the place of the apparitions.

June 19
Completion of construction of the Chapel of the Apparitions

February 20
In Lisbon, Jacinta Marto died.

1921

October 13
First Mass is celebrated in the Chapel of Apparitions.

1922

March 6
Enemies of the Church dynamite the Chapel of Apparitions.

May 3
Opening of the canonical process on the authenticity of the apparitions in Fatima.

May 13
Pilgrims place on the spot of the apparitions a statue carved by Jose Thedima. The building of a new chapel to replace the destroyed one.

1925

December 10
Mary appears to Lucia in Pontavedra in Spain, explaining the contents of the First Saturdays devotion and giving "the great promise of the Immaculate Heart."

1926

October 2
Lucia entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Dorothy

1928

May 13
Dedication stone for the construction of the basilica in Fatima.

1929

June 13
In Tuy, Spain, Lucia reveals Our Lady request for the Consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart, and explains how it is done.

December 6
Pius XI dedicated the statue of Our Lady of Fatima for the Portuguese College in Rome.

1930

May 13
Bishop of Leiria (Fatima) officially confirms the credibility of the Fatima apparitions.

1931

May 13
Portugal is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This saves the country from the civil war which had already begun in Spain.

1938

January 24-25
Our Lady's promise of a sign of the next war, appears in the skies. It is the glow of the aurora borealis across Europe.

1940

December 2
Lucia writes to the Pope to assure him that each country that is devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, will receive extraordinary grace.

December 8
Portugal renews its dedication to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and maintains neutrality during the Second World War.

1941

August 31
Lucia writes down the first and second part of the Secret of Fatima.

1942

December 8
Pope Pius XII calls for the world to be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

1944

January 3
Lucia writes down a third of the Secret of Fatima.

May 4
Pope Pius XII establishes the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May 13
The statue of Mary is crowned in the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel of the Apparitions.

August 8
Poland was the first country outside of Portugal, to be dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

1947

Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima is erected in Turzy Slaska.

1948

March 25
By special permission of Pope Lucy entered the Carmelite convent in Coimbra, Portugal.

1951

May 1
Exhumation of the remains of Jacinta revealed that her body is intact.

October 13
At Fatima, in the presence of a million pilgrims, at the closing ceremony of the Holy Year, Papal Legate Fr. Cardinal Tedeschini confirms the miracle of the sun and announces the dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

1952

July 7
Pope Pius XII headed the Apostolic Letter to the peoples of Russia.

1953

October 7
Consecration of the Basilica of Fatima.

1954
October 11

Pope Pius XII in his Encyclical Ad Caeli Regina "recommends that the faithful in every feast of Mary Queen of the World renew dedication to the Immaculate Heart of Mary."

1954

November
Pius XII, the decree "Luce Suprema" gives the Church of Our Lady of Fatima the title of Basilica.

1962

December 13
John XXIII established the feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

1964

November 21
At the third session of the Second Vatican Council, Pope Paul VI is devoted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary's world and offers the sanctuary of Fatima a Golden Rose.

1967

May 13
In the Apostolic Exhortation "Signum Magnum" Paul VI invites all the faithful to consecrate themselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May 13
Paul VI goes on one-day pilgrimage to Fatima.

1975

May 13
Portuguese bishops renew consecration of Portugal to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

1982

May 13
At Fatima, Pope John Paul II gave thanks for Our Lady in saving his life by consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

1984

March 24
John Paul II brings to the Vatican a statue of the Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima. After a night vigil in his private chapel, he combines with the world's bishops, and devotes humanity to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

March 27
John Paul II goes to Fatima on the anniversary of the assassination attempt

1991

May 13
On the tenth anniversary of the assassination attempt, John Paul II held a second pilgrimage to Fatima. He repeats the act of entrusting and thanks to Mary for the "unexpected change in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe."

2000

May 13
Pope John Paul II for the third time goes on pilgrimage to Fatima. Beatifying Francisco and Jacinta.

June 26
Disclosure of the Third Secret of Fatima.

2005

February 13
Sister Lucia, after three hours of quietly praying, whispers her last words: "Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Heart of Mary. With Francis and Jacinta go, go, go ... "and dies.

February 15
Fr. Cardinal Bertone, chaired Sister Lucia's funeral ceremonies.

2005

Sister Lucia's cause for beatification is officially announced by the Pope.
