Pilgrimage walk to the Shrine of Blessed Mary Mackillop, North Sydney 12 AUGUST 2007
The pilgrimage walk is in honour of Blessed Mary Mackillop, also known as Blessed Mary of the Cross, and is on the Sunday following her feast day (8 August). It is being organised by the Fraternity of St Peter, a religious society offering regular Latin Mass with full approval of the Diocese of Sydney.
When: Departing at 12 noon, right after Angelus [If you would like to attend a beautiful sung Latin Mass you are welcome to arrive at the Chapel by 10:30 am] Click here to see the map of the location.
Where: Maternal Heart of Mary Chapel, off Thomas Street, Lewisham.
Who should come: Anyone who enjoys a good pilgrimage and is able to walk the 12 k route.
There will be prayers, fun, good company, Benediction and Vespers sung in beautiful Gregorian plainsong. The route will be through the backstreets of Petersham and Stanmore, then following Pyrmont Bridge Rd, stopping at Wentworth for a BYO picnic lunch. Then it will cross the pedestrian bridge at Darling Harbour, follow along Kent Street past St Brigid’s and then onto the Harbour Bridge and up the final climb from Lavenders Bay to North Sydney and to the shrine. After arrival at the shrine there will be time for quiet reflection before Vespers and Benediction.
