Talk: Pope Benedict XVI’s ‘motu proprio’ on the Mass

News that Pope Benedict XVI was planing to issue a ‘motu proprio’ on the traditional rite of the Mass aroused enormous interest in Catholic circles and even in the secular media throughout the world. For over a year speculation and rumour flourished as the release date drew near, was postponed and finally arrived.

Now that Rome has spoken, speculation is over and time has come for serious examination. Fr Terence Mary Naughtin, OFM Conventual, will explain the background to Pope Benedict’s decree, how the new instructions will work and what may be its long-term benefits to the Church.
