Papua New Guinea.
Australia Needs Fatima’s first highly successful Fatima pilgrimage in PNG took place in October 2010. We were invited by Manus Island Fatima Family Apostolate (MIFFA) to bring our Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima statue to the country’s most northerly island of Manus.
The people of Papua New Guinea are very ceremonious and an elaborate protocol had to be followed at each visit. The most impressive memory though is the great faith and devotion of the people. For them this was the very real arrival of the Queen of Heaven and Earth to their villages.

For all of them though there is a constant struggle for survival unknown in the affluent First World.

Local organising commitees set up the programs. The challenges are daunting. With infrastructure limited, the way is often by boat, or flying into remote airstrips, or hiking jungle trails. Local organisers work hard to arrange logistics, liaise with local parishes, and coordinate with village elders.

Despite such challenges, our Pilgrim Virgin continues to reach ever more villages, parishes, schools, hospitals, and prisons. We supply youth groups, schools, and local Church communities with rosaries, medals, books, prayer cards, and audio-visual resources.
This mission has been possible due to the generous support of Australia Needs Fatima members. Thanks to your help, Our Lady showers the fervent souls of Papua New Guinea with graces.
