Australia honours Our Lady of Fatima
On Saturday October 15 2016 at least 170 groups all across Australia took part in a-nation-wide Public Square Rosary Rallies in commemoration of the final (October) apparition at Fatima. The intention of these prayerful rallies was to ask Our Lady of Fatima to intercede for God’s merciful blessing upon Australia.
Led by their Rosary Captains, the faithful stormed Heaven with sweet hymns for Our Lady and prayers of the rosary resonating in the melodies of love and devotion.
It was a powerful display of the Catholic faith, inviting the public to ask Our Lady of Fatima to intercede for God’s merciful blessings upon Australia. With a total registration of 170 groups* this year, (ACT= 2, NSW = 53, QLD=46, SA=11, TAS=1, VIC=36, WA=21), the responses were very encouraging. While there were a few groups that conducted a marvellous Rosary procession along their parish grounds, many have displayed their faith and devotion with their friends and families in a nearby park or a quiet area where it is still visible for the public to see.
The fruits of this event has involved parish communities resolving to form rosary groups and the clergy encouraging their parishioners to pray the rosary before or after the Holy Mass.
“It was truly a blessed day, knowing that on this day about 150 Rosaries maybe happening all over Australia and more all over the world. Thanks to all who have participated and to Australia Needs Fatima, HQ Sydney for giving us an opportunity to participate in this meaningful and important gathering to pray for our nation, our families and for all of the sick, dying and marginalised.” says Cynthia, who organised a successful gathering Namatjira Park in Clayton, Victoria.
While Thelma of Burpengary, QLD was thankful “for the opportunity to reclaim the public space for God – as religion is being banished from public life. The only way to reach the public is by witnessing our faith to others.” She successfully coordinated with 53 faithful to pray the rosary in her area.
As Pope Francis says in his Dec 7 Angelus address, “the Virgin Mary is the ‘path’ that God Himself has prepared to come into the world. Let us entrust to Her the expectation of salvation and peace for all men and women of our time.”
Overall, the nationwide Public Square Rosary was successful in gathering hundreds of faithful in prayer and fellowship as they courageously witness the faith in public as a sign of God’s love and hope for an outpouring of grace for Australia.
Preparations are being made to commemorate the Centenary of Our Lady’s final apparition at Fatima. This will be held on October 14 2017. If you are interested in registering your group please forward your expression of interest on our Public Square Rosary page so we can lead other people interested to join in your area early.
